I love visiting Hong Kong to see my family and friends. It holds a close place in my heart since I'm from there. There's an endless amount of things to do there! (Especially eating :)).

Hong Kong Harbour by CarlyDraws

One of my favourite parts of Hong Kong was the skyline. The angular shapes of the skyscrapers contrast against the rolling mountains behind, and the clouds pile up behind the peak. This is a condensed version of the skyline as seen from a boat ride around the harbour, with all my favourite bits in it!

Another of my favourite places in Hong Kong. One of the city's quirkiest modes of transport is the Central - Mid-levels Escalator, built as a connection between the financial district and residential areas further up the hillside.

From its starting point on Queen's Road Central, the escalator snakes its way through one of Hong Kong's oldest and most interesting neighbourhoods - an eclectic blend of wet markets, colonial structures, hip restaurants, watering holes and art galleries. Like the city as a whole, it keeps a precarious balance between age-old tradition and unashamed modernity.

Easily one of the best parts of my hometown. When friends come to visit, this is where I take them to see a greener and lesser-known side of Hong Kong. The tourist magnets are Ocean Park, Repulse Bay and Stanley, but beyond these three places there is plenty more to explore. The avid hiker will love the island's mountainous interior, and sun-worshippers will delight in its string of beautiful beaches. For the culture vulture, there's a bustling fish market, colonial architecture and the annual dragon boat races in Stanley and Aberdeen.
