(TMTPOST)—The World Smart City Awards, hailed as the "Oscars" of smart city development, is designed to celebrate 13 years of success under the Smart City Expo World Congress.
From the period from 2010 to 2025, nearly half of global GDP growth is estimated to be propelled by 440 emerging-market cities. In particular, the emerging-market cities in Asia are home to 57% of the world's populace. The Region Smart City Awards, with a special focus on Asia's emerging cities, aim to showcase exemplary projects, foster cross-city collaboration, and promote diverse development.
Key evaluation principles include inclusiveness, technology for good, and collaboration, with winners invited to the Smart City Expo World Congress’s Hangzhou in September 2024.
