因为变频空调的消耗功率是一个变化的值，随室内温度不断的变化。温度越高，压缩机转速也高，消耗功率也越大，到接近设定温度时，转速变得很低，消耗功率就会很小。为了描述这种空调的耗电量，通常采用“制冷季节耗电量”（全年制冷运行1136小时）这样一个宽泛的指标。这个指标必须是在标准工况下，1136小时的长时间运行测得的，短时偶然的数据无效。
折算为平均每小时的耗电量，即514/1136=0.45度。
