Sweep House, a masterpiece by State of Kin in Perth’s leafy Mount Hawthorn, harmonizes contrasting elements—sharp lines and sweeping curves, smooth surfaces and soft textures—to craft a home of connection and retreat. Nestled on a street with diverse architectural styles and strict planning rules, it responds to the client’s brief for a family home that grows with them: a gathering place for community and a private sanctuary for rest. Drawing inspiration from 1930s Californian bungalows, Federation homes, and character cottages, the design reinterprets these typologies with contemporary flair, balancing street privacy and city views.

由 State of Kin 建筑事务所打造的斯威普住宅（Sweep House），坐落于珀斯绿树成荫的霍桑山郊区，将鲜明对比的元素 —— 利落线条与流畅曲线、光滑表面与柔软肌理 —— 和谐相融，构筑出兼具联结与静谧属性的居所。住宅位于建筑风格多样且规划限制严格的街道上，精准回应了业主对家庭住宅的核心需求：一处能伴随家庭成长、既可供社区欢聚又能提供私人休憩的空间。设计从 20 世纪 30 年代的加州平房、联邦风格住宅与特色小屋中汲取灵感，以当代视角重新诠释这些建筑类型，在街道隐私性与城市景观视野间实现完美平衡。

The home’s bold facade establishes a consistent design language, seemingly carved from a cube with curved edges that soften its presence. Clean lines contrast with heavy stucco surfaces, while Jali screens and strategically placed apertures invite diffused natural light to dance through the interiors. This facade is more than an aesthetic statement—it’s a dialogue with the streetscape, honoring neighboring architectural character while asserting its own contemporary identity. The curved forms echo the organic shapes of surrounding greenery, creating a visual bridge between the built environment and nature.

Restrained interiors seamlessly blend lush soft furnishings with smooth surfaces, embracing a minimalist approach enriched by layered textures and a tonal color palette. Polished travertine floors flow into luxurious carpeting, subtly demarcating retreat spaces while maintaining visual continuity. Creams and earthy browns dominate the palette, interacting with natural elements—warm sunlight, exterior greenery, and glimpses of the pool’s blue and sky—to create an atmosphere of calm sophistication. Every material choice serves to enhance comfort and connection, turning the home into a sensory haven.
