据日本总务省公布，截至2025年1月1日，日本人口已连续16年减少，总数约1.2065亿，减少幅度创1968年以来新高。2024至2025年间，日本出生人数创新低，死亡人数创新高，仅东京都人口微增。目前65岁以上老年人口占比29.58%，预计到2026年，日本人口将跌破1.2亿，同时，外籍人口约367.7万，创2013年以来新高。
