6月27日，据Business Insider报道，谷歌终止研发数年的增强现实眼镜项目。三名知情人士称，在经历了裁员、重组和AR/VR主管Clay Bavor离职后，谷歌内部代号为Iris的智能眼镜于今年早些时候被搁置。内部人士表示，谷歌领导层不断改变Iris的战略，导致团队不断调整方向，让许多员工感到沮丧。报道称，自从搁置Iris眼镜项目以来，谷歌一直专注于建立一个AR软件平台，希望将其授权给其他头显制造厂商。一位员工将谷歌的雄心描述为“AR版安卓”。
