5月29日，美军第24海军陆战队远征队通报称，该部队已正式承担美国南方司令部责任区——即拉美周边水域的相关任务。根据通报，该部队部署超过1300名海军陆战队员以及水兵，已与此前执行任务的第22海军陆战队远征队完成交接。（央视新闻）
