据中国地震台网正式测定，北京时间11月2日1时4分（当地时间11月1日23时4分）在印尼苏门答腊岛北部海域发生5.9级地震，震源深度10千米，震中位于北纬0.20度，东经96.70度。
震中200公里范围内没有大中城市分布。震中5公里范围内平均海拔约-5115米。
