当地时间27日，有美方消息显示，美国海军官员称，美国“西奥多·罗斯福”号航空母舰及5000名舰上官兵将在未来几周被派往中东地区，接替“华盛顿”号航母，执行至少7个月的部署任务。
消息称，“华盛顿”号航母20日刚刚接替了在海上部署长达200多天的“林肯”号。
