大脑“不熟悉”造成的感觉“不对劲”
相机拍照之所以产生“欺骗”眼睛的错觉,是因为它捕捉到的是大脑不怎么
熟悉的画面。
Have you ever looked at a photo of yourself and thought, Do I really look like that? Many people feel confused when their appearance in pictures seems very different from what they see in the mirror. The reason is not that cameras "lie", but that photography captures a version of us that our brains are not used to seeing. One major reason is familiarity.
对于大多数人而言,每天看到的都是自己在镜子里的模样,也就是所谓的“镜像”版本;而照片呈现的则是“别人眼中的自己”。由于我们早已习惯自己的镜像,即便是面部对称上的细微差别,也会让拍摄出的普通照片看起来很别扭。
For most people, the face they see every day is their mirror image, which is actually a reversed version of their real appearance. Because we are so familiar with that reflection, even small differences in facial symmetry can make a normal photograph feel strange. When we see a non-reversed image, our brain may interpret it as unfamiliar, even though it is the way other people see us.

心理学家将这一现象称为曝光效应,即人往往更偏爱自己经常见到的事物。我们反复看见镜中的自己,久而久之就会对这个镜像版本产生更强的认同感。但照片呈现的却是我们不太熟悉的样貌,于是我们会感觉哪里看起来 “不对劲”。
Psychologists call this the mere exposure effect — the idea that people tend to prefer things they encounter frequently. Since we repeatedly see our reflection, we often develop a stronger attachment to that version of ourselves. A photograph, however, presents a less familiar image, which can make us feel that something looks "wrong".
相片定格的只是一瞬间
光线与拍摄角度同样影响巨大。专业摄影师清楚,拍摄位置的微小变化,就会极大改变面部呈现出来的效果。镜头略低于视线高度,会显得下颌更宽;镜头离脸过近,则会扭曲五官比例。智能手机摄像头尤其容易出现这类问题,它大多配备广角镜头,会放大距离镜头更近的五官,比如鼻子和脸颊。
Lighting and camera angles also play a powerful role. Professional photographers know that small changes in position can dramatically alter how a face appears. A camera placed slightly below eye level may make the jaw look wider, while a camera too close to the face can distort proportions. This is especially true with smartphone cameras, which often use wide-angle lenses that exaggerate features closer to the lens, such as the nose and cheeks.

另一个影响因素是,现实中的样貌是动态变化的。当我们当面观察一个人时,看到的是表情、神态动作、声音与性格交织在一起的整体状态。一个人的魅力并不单单由固定的五官长相决定。笑容、肢体姿态以及与人相处的方式,都会极大影响我们对他的观感。
Another factor is that real-life appearance is dynamic. When we look at someone in person, we see their facial expressions, movements, voice, and personality all working together. A person's attractiveness is not determined only by fixed facial features. The way they smile, move, or interact with others contributes greatly to how we perceive them.
而照片定格的只是某一瞬间,有时捕捉到的表情并不能代表这个人平时的样子。面部肌肉紧绷程度、姿态或是抓拍时机的细微变化,都可能让人看上去疲惫、不悦,或是有种陌生感。这就是为什么很多人在视频里会比静态照片更好看。
Photos freeze a single moment, sometimes capturing an expression that does not represent someone's usual appearance. A slight change in muscle tension, posture, or timing can make a person appear tired, angry, or unfamiliar. This is why many people look better in videos than in still images.
关键在“内”不在“外”
社交媒体让这一问题变得愈发突出。借助滤镜、精心挑选的拍摄角度以及反复修图,很多人会拿自己现实中的样貌,去对比网上那些脱离现实的图片,由此产生不必要的容貌焦虑。
Social media has made this issue more noticeable. With filters, carefully chosen angles, and repeated editing, many people compare their everyday appearance with unrealistic images online. This can create unnecessary anxiety about their looks.

研究人员提醒,长期接触经过修图加工的图片,可能会加剧人们对自身外貌的不满。不过专家表示,问题往往在于我们的心理预期,而非长相本身。我们看待自己时格外苛刻,会揪着每一处细微细节反复审视;但别人看待我们,看到的是完整的整体。那些我们在照片里嫌弃的五官瑕疵,在旁人眼中几乎注意不到。
Experts say the problem often lies in our expectations rather than our faces. We tend to judge ourselves more harshly because we are examining every small detail, while other people usually perceive us as a whole. The features we dislike in photos may be barely noticeable to anyone else.

说到底,拍照不上相是所有人都会遇到的正常情况。相机捕捉到的仅仅是我们的某一个侧面——一个被镜头、光线和拍摄角度左右的、凝固又陌生的瞬间。别人眼中的我们,远不止一张照片所能概括。很多时候,镜子与照片之间最大的差别,并不是我们的长相,而是我们看待自己的方式。
