北京时间8月21日，据昨日报道，骑士、掘金、快船、奇才和黄蜂完成五方交易，奇才在交易中送出卡姆-惠特莫尔和朱利安-里斯，得到特雷-曼恩、次轮签（2027年，来自骑士，经由快船）和现金补偿。
据TA记者Josh Robbins报道，此举缓解了奇才阵容中侧翼球员过剩、其他位置薄弱的失衡局面。在奇才用状元签选中AJ-迪班萨，且新秀威尔-莱利展现出潜力后，惠特莫尔在侧翼轮换阵容中几乎没有机会获得出场机会。凯肖恩-乔治、比拉尔-库利巴利、特雷-约翰逊和贾斯汀-尚帕尼在轮换顺序上也排在22岁的惠特莫尔之前。
