经英国防务集团BAE Systems证实，5月9日，该集团旗下杰克逊维尔造船厂（Jacksonville Ship Repair）区内，一名船厂工人在对重型机械进行维修作业时发生事故，并致人死亡。
BAE Systems发言人表示，事发时，遇难工人正在对自行式模块化运输车（SPMT）进行维修保养作业，不幸遭遇致命事故。
SPMT是一种重型工程设备，主要用于将船舶从近水域区域转运至船厂内陆厂区设施。
目前，BAE Systems正在调查事故原因。
