When Kokuyo commissioned DDAA to design a "learning space" for employees, the team first faced a question: how to translate abstract "curiosity" into tangible architecture? They realized that learning, rooted in spontaneous inquiry, can’t be forced—so the space shouldn’t be a rigid "classroom," but a gentle "catalyst." This insight laid the foundation: the design would focus on accommodating, not controlling, the natural flow of curiosity and knowledge-sharing among people.

当国誉（Kokuyo）委托 DDAA 为员工设计一处 “学习空间” 时，设计团队首先面临一个难题：如何将抽象的 “好奇心” 转化为可触摸的建筑形态？他们意识到，根植于自发探索的学习无法被强制 —— 因此空间不应是刻板的 “教室”，而应是温和的 “催化剂”。这一思考成为核心：设计的重点是容纳，而非掌控，让人与人之间的求知欲与知识共享自然发生。

Inspiration unexpectedly came from Japanese family restaurants. These 24-hour spots, where people study, work, or chat freely, have a unique magic: everyone coexists without disturbing each other. DDAA saw this as the key—an atmosphere where "concentration" and "sharing" aren’t opposites. They dived into research: analyzing restaurant histories, measuring modular furniture, even studying their mentions in movies. Every detail of family restaurants became a clue to solving the learning space puzzle.

灵感意外地源于日本家庭餐厅。这些 24 小时营业的场所，人们在此自由学习、工作或闲聊，却有着一种独特魔力：每个人互不干扰，又和谐共存。DDAA 将此视为关键 —— 一种 “专注” 与 “分享” 并非对立的氛围。他们深入研究：分析餐厅历史、测量模块化家具，甚至研究电影中对其的刻画。家庭餐厅的每一处细节，都成为破解学习空间难题的线索。

The first design principle borrowed from family restaurants is the "two-layer space." The lower half, with carefully adjusted fixture heights and plant partitions, creates private nooks for focus—you can huddle over a laptop without distractions. The upper half, with open sightlines, stays connected to the rest of the space—glancing up, you might spot a colleague discussing a project, sparking new ideas. This balance lets people switch between deep work and casual exchanges effortlessly.

从家庭餐厅借鉴的首个设计原则，是 “双层空间” 理念。下半部分，通过精心调整的家具高度与植物隔断，营造出专注的私人角落 —— 你可以埋头于笔记本电脑前，不受干扰；上半部分则保持开阔视野，与空间其他区域相连 —— 抬头时，或许能看到同事讨论项目的身影，催生新想法。这种平衡让人们能轻松在深度工作与轻松交流间切换。

Circulation design is another clever adaptation. Like family restaurants placing drink bars and restrooms to encourage movement, DDAA scattered functions across KOKUYO DIG: a library and light meal bar on the first floor, a snack bar and supply dock on the second. Paths wind through the space like lines drawn in butter, guiding people to wander. Every walk becomes a chance to encounter others—an overheard conversation might turn into a collaborative project.

动线设计是另一处巧妙转化。如同家庭餐厅通过设置饮品吧、洗手间引导人流，DDAA 在 KOKUYO DIG 中分散布局功能区：一层的图书馆与轻食吧，二层的零食吧与补给站。路径如在黄油上划过的线条般蜿蜒，引导人们漫步。每一次行走都成为遇见他人的契机 —— 偶然听到的对话，或许就会发展成合作项目。

Flexible tables are the heart of the space. Just like family restaurant booths that adapt to 1 person or a group, KOKUYO DIG has tables of all sizes. Small desks fit solo work; large low tables near the entrance welcome groups to spread out documents and brainstorm. This flexibility means no one is forced into a fixed "mode"—you can work alone in the morning and join a discussion in the afternoon, with the space adapting to you.

灵活的桌椅是空间的核心。如同家庭餐厅的卡座可容纳 1 人或多人，KOKUYO DIG 配备了各种尺寸的桌子：小桌适合独自工作，入口附近的大型矮桌则欢迎团队铺开文件、头脑风暴。这种灵活性意味着没人被束缚在固定 “模式” 中 —— 你可以上午独自工作，下午加入讨论，让空间主动适应需求，而非相反。

Plants and lighting add subtle warmth. Lush greenery doesn’t just divide space—it brings the calm of nature, easing the tension of deep work. Soft, diffused lighting, unlike harsh office lights, creates a cozy mood, like sitting in a quiet café. These details turn a "workspace" into a "third place"—not home, not a strict office, but a comfortable spot where learning feels natural.

植物与灯光为空间增添了微妙暖意。繁茂的绿植不仅用于隔断，更带来自然的宁静，缓解深度工作的紧张感；柔和的漫射灯光，不同于刺眼的办公灯，营造出温馨氛围，如同坐在安静的咖啡馆。这些细节让 “工作空间” 变成了 “第三场所”—— 不是家，也不是严肃的办公室，而是一处让学习变得自然的舒适之地。

KOKUYO DIG isn’t just a designed space—it’s a living part of the learning cycle. DDAA even turned the project itself into a learning experience, collaborating with Kokuyo’s team and compiling a book on the process. For employees, every day here is a chance to grow: focused work in a private nook, a casual chat by the snack bar, a new idea from a passing colleague. This is the true power of the space—it makes learning a natural part of daily life.

KOKUYO DIG 不只是一处设计好的空间，更是学习循环中鲜活的一环。DDAA 甚至将项目本身变成了学习经历，与国誉团队协作，并编写了一本记录设计过程的书。对员工而言，在这里的每一天都是成长的机会：在私人角落专注工作，在零食吧旁轻松闲聊，从路过的同事那里获得新想法。这便是空间的真正力量 —— 让学习成为日常生活中自然的一部分。
