2024年7月27日，在第46届世界遗产大会上，“北京中轴线：中国理想都城秩序的杰作”通过审议，列入世界遗产名录，成为我国第59项世界遗产。此前一天，巴丹吉林沙漠一沙山湖泊群、中国黄（渤）海候乌栖息地（第二期）通过评审，成为世界遗产。
On July 27, 2024, at the 46th World Heritage Conference, "Beijing Central Axis: A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Capital City Order" was approved and became China's 59th World Heritage Site. The day before, Badain Jaran Desert Sand Dunes and Lakes, and the Yellow (Bohai) Sea Migratory Bird Habitat (Phase II) were also approved as World Heritage Sites.
这条始建于元代的中轴线，位于北京城中心，北起钟鼓楼，南至永定门，涵盖15个遗产构成要素，全长7.8公里。梁思成曾说：“北京独有的壮美秩序就由这条中轴的建立而产生。”
This central line in Beijing, which started being built during the Yuan Dynasty, is right in the middle of the city. It starts from the Drum Tower and goes all the way south to Yongding Gate, covering 15 important parts, and is 7.8 kilometers long. Liang Sicheng, a famous architect, said, "The unique grandeur and order of Beijing come from this central axis."
此次申遗历时12年，联合国教科文组织世界遗产委员会认可“北京中轴线”的完整性、真实性和保护管理状况。
It took 12 years to get this approval, but the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized that the "Beijing Central Axis" is complete, genuine, and well taken care of.
