增加不用increase！
这类词盘点的有很多啦，而且替换词也很多。
一般的增加就有increase和rise，这里看看我总结的五个表示急剧增加的单词：
multiply 大幅增加；乘，使相乘
In warm weather these germs multiply rapidly.在温暖的天气里这些细菌会迅速繁殖。
upsurge 急剧上升，猛增
An upsurge of/in violence in the district has been linked to increased unemployment.该地区暴力事件的猛增与失业率上升有关。
mushroom 迅速增长；迅速发展
The number of computers in schools has mushroomed in recent years.近年来，学校里计算机的数量迅速增长
skyrocket 猛涨，飞涨
Housing prices have skyrocketed in recent months.近几个月房价飞涨。
hike （价格或费用的大幅）提高，增加
The recent hike in train fares came as a shock to commuters.最近火车票的涨价让通勤者们十分震惊。

lessen 减少，降低，减轻
A healthy diet can lessen the risk of heart disease.健康饮食能降低患心脏病的危险。
slash 大幅削减，大幅减少（金钱、工作等）

cut down on 减少, 削减
We must cut down on the amount of material we use
我们必须削减原料使用量。
pare down 削减； 减少
It will be necessary to pare this budget down considerably.

demonstrate
反映一个国家的自信程度 demonstrate a country's self-confidence
manifest
Lack of confidence in the company manifested itself in a fall in the share price.对公司缺乏信心表现为股价下跌。
embody
She embodied good sportsmanship on the playing field.在运动场上，她展现了优秀运动员的风采。
feature
The hour-long programme will be updated each week and feature highlights from recent games.
这个一小时的节目将每周更新，重点介绍近期比赛的精彩部分。
give full expression to
发展社会主义民主政治就是要体现人民意志、保障人民权益、激发人民创造活力，用制度体系保证人民当家作主。

boast 有（值得自豪的东西）

enjoy 享有，享受；利用
互利合作潜力巨大 enjoy great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation
be blessed with 幸运地拥有
Fortunately we were blessed with fine weather.幸运的是我们碰上了好天气。
be endowed with 天生具备，生来具有（某种特性或品质）
Some lucky people are endowed with both brains and beauty.一些幸运之人生来就智慧和美貌并存。
Sardinia is generously endowed with prehistoric sites.撒丁岛上有很多史前遗址。
there be句型
在住房、教育、医疗、养老、食品药品安全、收入分配等方面，人民群众还有不少不满意的地方。

establish

bring about

“是”不要只用is/was/are……
turn out翻译成“结果为；被发现是”。
Cosgrave's forecast turned out to be completely wrong.
科斯格累夫的预测被发现是完全错误的。
serve as的意思是担任(充当； 起 ... 的作用)。
The episode could reasonably serve as a unique epic of royal espionage!
这一事件理所当然地堪称是国王间谍活动的的独一无二的史诗。
These philosophical views serve as a guide in life.
这些哲学观点可以作为处世指南。

“用、利用”不只是use！
utilize
你看，这个词看起来就比use高级多啦！
实际使用外资1300多亿美元，继续位居发展中国家首位。
China utilized more than US$130 billion of overseas investment, continuing to rank first among developing countries.
make the best of sth
它的意思是充分利用：
We should make the most of our time.
我们应该充分利用时间。
optimize
这个词也是常见的，它的本义是“使最优化；优化；完善”。
We need to optimize our use of the existing technology.
我们需要充分利用现有技术。
put sth. to good use
There must be some way to put my mind to good use.
总会有办法让我发挥才智。
put/turn to good account
它的意思是“加以利用；从中获利，从中得益”。
We must turn these opportunities to good account.
我们必须利用这些机会。
I put my experience to good use in my new work.
我在新的工作中充分利用了我的经验。
capitalize on sth
这个也很常用，意思是“利用…获益；从…中获利”。
We should capitalize on every chance we get to improver our English.
我们应该充分利用一切机会来提高英语水平。
avail yourself of sth
avail的意思是（对某人或某物）有帮助；有用，这个短语翻译为“利用”。
Employees should avail themselves of the opportunity to buy cheap shares in the company.雇员应利用这次机会低价认购公司股份。

发展不用develop！
先把发展看做动词，它的替换词有~
evolve
evolve的本义是进化，也表示发展使逐步形成。
The company has evolved over the years into a multi-million dollar organization.该公司在数年内逐步发展成为一个拥有数百万美元资产的大企业。
expand
这个词指（尺寸、数量或重要性）扩大，增加。
They expanded their retail operations during the 1980s.20世纪80年代他们扩大了零售业务。
gain momentum/strength
momentum的意思是势头；动力；strength就是强度；力度；力量。
gain momentum/strength翻译为发展加快；势头增大。
shape up
这个短语也表示进展；发展。
How are your plans shaping up?你的计划进展如何?
Things seem to be shaping up nicely.事情似乎进展顺利。
我再把发展看做动词，它的替换词有~
progress
意思是进步，进展，in progress就表示正在进行中。
Technological progress has been so rapid over the last few years.在最近几年中，科技进步如此迅猛。
headway
make headway是常见搭配，表示前进，取得进展。
I'm trying to learn to drive, but I'm not making much headway (with it).我想学开车，可是进步缓慢。
Little headway has been made so far in the negotiations.谈判至今未取得进展。
advance
当然，advance也有动词意思，都翻译为前进；进步，进展；发展。
Medical technology has advanced considerably.医学技术突飞猛进。
Recent advances in medical science mean that this illness can now be cured.医学新近取得的进展意味着这种疾病现在不再是绝症了。

step/speed up
