8月8日17时，广西海事局派出的“海巡1003”船顺利抵达平塘江口，这是平陆运河主体工程完工后，首次有船舶完整通过134.2公里全航段，标志着运河通航实船验证取得突破性进展。
8月7日，该海巡船从钦州港出发，沿运河一路北上，经过青年、企石、马道3座船闸，对平陆运河全航段开展巡航检查。
