8月8日，台风“白海豚”接近台湾北部海面，新北市淡水区出现了极端的龙卷风天气，当地有榕树被连根拔起，街头一片狼籍，还有电线被刮断。
对此，当地气象部门研判，龙卷风是因台风外围云系强对流造成。
