中国地震台网自动测定：12月08日22时15分在日本本州东岸近海附近（北纬40.96度，东经142.59度）发生7.8级左右地震，最终结果以正式速报为准。
日本气象厅当地时间12月8日23时23分发布海啸警报，预计部分海域将出现最高3米海啸，呼吁沿岸民众高度警戒。
