宋人尚古,尤重玉器。此鹿皮童子,和田玉质,生坑未盘,灰皮裹体,红沁深入肌理,如血渍经年,斑驳陆离。童子作蹲伏状,面容浑圆,眉目不清,然憨态可掬,衣褶简率,刀法粗犷中见精微。
灰皮者,土沁之证;红沁者,铁质所侵。二者相叠,恰似岁月叠加之印记。宋时匠人未必有意为之,而今人观之,竟觉天趣盎然。玉本死物,经千年埋藏,反得生气,岂非造化弄人?
此物虽小,然灰皮红沁之间,自有一种沧桑意味,令人生"物犹如此,人何以堪"之思。
