德闳优秀毕业生：她，以温柔撼动规则，收获来自纽大的金色回音

Valien一直渴望代表女性，让她们的声音有力响彻在宽广的天地。抱着如此志向的她，如今成功拿到了纽约大学文理学院（New York University College of Arts and Sciences）抛出的橄榄枝！收获的其他高含金量通知书还包括罗格斯大学University of Rochester、加州大学尔湾分校University of California Riverside和加州大学河滨分校University of California Irvine。

纽约大学文理学院（CAS）作为NYU历史最悠久、学术底蕴最深厚的核心学院之一，以其卓越的学术声誉、跨学科创新和得天独厚的地理位置，成为全球学子理想的求学目标。近两年本科整体录取率持续走低（2023年约8%），文理学院作为最热门学院之一，录取率通常低于大学整体水平（约10-15%）。 Valien在占比22%的全球优秀生源中脱颖而出。

刚加入时那个娴静话少的女孩，强大的能量磁场和无数新奇想法亟待破壳而出，与德闳鼓励学生大胆表达的包容环境一拍即合：

“我可以借给你卫生巾”

Valien发现传统中国教育中，性与性别教育常被忽视，于是心里慢慢萌生了社会学和女性主义的种子。

在德闳校会上，她勇敢阐述自己的观点——女孩应该更为自信，像谈论感冒一样自然地谈论生理期等话题，内容深深触动了每个人。现在校园里中学部的女生不再因害羞不愿谈论月经，她们自豪地佩戴着“我可以借你卫生巾”字样的小胸牌互相帮助。德闳推行的第一个女性关怀项目——在卫生间设置女性用品站，也是由Valien发起的。

变革学校校服制度

德闳的校服制度要求学生上学日需按要求得体着装，女生校服下装为裙子，这项制度推行多年。要让一项实施已久的制度做出更改非常困难，Valien站了出来，用清晰的逻辑分析阐述理由，从底层逻辑上触及深层的文化和性别认同问题，勇敢地喊出反对，向学校管理层提出关乎学生福祉的请求。最终，她促成了学校校服制度的重大变革，使女孩们拥有了可以选择穿裤子的权利。

学校对学生原创想法的大力支持让她感受到被看到、被听到、被尊重、被支持的温暖，使Valien持续注入研究的热忱。

村庄图书馆

三年里，Valien的声音，从中学部到整个德闳校园，现如今已经有力地响彻至周边地区。

在与图书馆老师的聊天中，Valien发现学校临近的皮村教育资源匮乏，于是，她立刻张罗起书籍捐赠活动，把图书馆搬到村庄里。对他人的关心让Valien将目光放得更远更宽，她与孩子们建立联系，马不停蹄地输送阅读资源。

“学校给予的支持让我想做的事一次又一次化作现实，我不断在实践中验证未来真正想做的事，感谢德闳创造出如此被尊重被聆听的环境。”

Valien在德闳的滋养下一步步靠近自己的梦想，愈发绽放出真正的自己——敢想、敢说、敢做！

Dehong's Outstanding Graduate: How Her Quiet Rebellion Won NYU's Acclaim

"I want to be a powerful voice, not just a faint echo in the corner."

Valien has always aspired to represent women and let their voices resonate widely. With this ambition, she successfully secured an offer from the New York University College of Arts and Sciences! Other highly sought-after offers included those from Rutgers University, University of California, Riverside, and University of California, Irvine.

As one of NYU's oldest and most academically robust core colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at NYU is a global destination for students, renowned for its outstanding academic reputation, interdisciplinary innovation, and unique location. The overall undergraduate acceptance rate has continued to decline over the past two years (approximately 8% for 2023). As one of the most competitive colleges, the CAS typically has an acceptance rate lower than that of the university as a whole (estimated to be around 10-15%). Valien stood out from a pool of applicants that included 22% of the world's top applicants.

Valien's energy and innovative ideas found the perfect home at Dehong, where the school's inclusive culture empowers students to speak up and take action.

Valien noticed that sex and gender education is often neglected in traditional Chinese education. At a Dehong school assembly, she shared her vision: girls should be more confident and discuss topics like menstruation as naturally as they could a cold! Her speech deeply moved everyone. Now, secondary school girls on Dehong's campus are no longer shy about discussing menstruation. They proudly wear small badges that read "I can lend you a sanitary napkin" and offer mutual support when needed. Valien also spearheaded Dehong's first women's care initiative: installing sanitary product stations in restrooms—a simple yet impactful change for the community.

Changing the School Uniform Rules

Dehong’s uniform policy mandates that students dress appropriately during school hours—a rule that had been in place for years. Altering such a long-standing policy is no easy feat. Yet Valien stepped forward, making her case with clear logic while delving into deeper cultural and gender identity issues. She courageously voiced her opposition to the school administration, framing her request as a matter of student welfare. Ultimately, this effort led to a significant revision of the uniform policy, granting girls the right to wear pants. The school’s strong support for students’ original ideas has made Valien feel seen, heard, respected, and supported—all of which have fueled her passion for exploration.

Village Library

Over the past three years, Valien’s voice has rung out powerfully—not just across the secondary school and the entire Dehong community, but now throughout the surrounding area as well. During a conversation with the librarian, she learned that educational resources in Pi Village, a nearby community, were severely inadequate. Without delay, she organized a book donation campaign and laid plans to establish a library there.

”The school’s support has turned my dreams into reality, and through practice, I’m constantly putting my aspirations to the test. I’m grateful to have grown up in such a respectful environment.”Nurtured by Dehong, Valien is steadily advancing toward her dream, growing ever more into her authentic self.
