浦项制铁4月21日发布声明称，与现代汽车集团签署谅解备忘录，将参与现代钢铁在美国的工厂建设，并在钢铁和充电电池领域加强合作。
上个月，现代钢铁宣布计划到2029年投资58亿美元，在美国路易斯安那州建设综合钢厂，目标同年投产。
