在12日下午刚刚结束的WTT新加坡大满贯男单第二轮比赛中，国乒19岁小将林诗栋3-1战胜队友樊振东，晋级男单16强，他将对阵波尔和卡尔伯格之间的胜者。
本场比赛的四局比分为：11-6、11-2、9-11、11-6。
赛后在接受采访时，林诗栋说他没想到能赢得比赛，自己和樊振东的发挥都很好。
