1996年2月27日，《宝可梦》系列开山之作《宝可梦 红／绿》正式发售！今天也被命名为“宝可梦日”，同时宝可梦发布会「Pokémon Presents」就在今晚十点举行。
此前有消息称，《宝可梦 黑白12》将迎来复刻，复刻版的名称将为《宝可梦 深黑/皓白》（Pokemon Deep Black/Vast White），本次的复刻开发工作将由开发组ILCA负责，复刻形式将和ILCA曾开发过的《宝可梦：晶灿钻石/明亮珍珠》基本一致。
