But the same is not true in the other direction. Traditionally female occupations, especially in what I call the HEAL fields—in health, education, administration and literacy—have, if anything, become even more “pink collar.” Just 26% of HEAL jobs are held by men, down from 35% in 1980. The gender desegregation of the labor market has so far been almost entirely one-way. Women are doing “men’s jobs.” Men are not doing “women’s jobs.”
Acronym。An acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of a name (for example, NATO, from North Atlantic Treaty Organization) or by combining initial letters of a series of words (radar, from radio detection and ranging).
02
pink collar: connected with low-paid jobs done mainly by women, for example in offices and restaurants
blue-collar: connected with people who do physical work in industry从事体力劳动的
white-collar: working in an office, rather than in a factory, etc.; connected with work in offices
desegregation: de+segregation,
desegregate: to end the policy of segregation in a place in which people of different races are kept separate in public places, etc.
Traditionally female occupations, especially in what I call theHEALfields—in health, education, administration and literacy—have, if anything, become even more “pink collar.”
e.g. If anything, the pandemic has rekindled our affection for it.
The traditional festivals, especially the dragon boat festival, if anything, become even more popularly among the younger generation.
