2001年7月13日 北京申奥成功
2001年7月13日，万众瞩目的2008年奥运会举办城市，终于在莫斯科国际奥委会第112次全会中揭晓。在五个2008年奥运会申办城市中，北京脱颖而出，夺得2008年奥运会举办权。
为了办好这届奥运会，2002年以来，北京市先后投入2600多亿元资金，进行体育场馆建设、基础设施改造和环境治理。
