当地时间6日上午，亚奥理事会发布通告表示，亚奥理事会与相关方研究了原定于2022年12月在中国汕头举行的第三届亚洲青年运动会的情况，由于亚青会已经延期一次，讨论决定取消汕头亚青会，下一届亚青会将于2025年在乌兹别克斯坦的塔什干举行。
