Tip #25：不同类别的研究文章。
在过去期刊刚刚起步的日子里(指西方，那里的期刊文化要更悠久一些……)，研究人员实际上是通过“给编辑的信”把他们的研究成果传达给期刊的。“亲爱的先生…”例如，查尔斯·达尔文的许多论文就是这种形式的。直到20世纪90年代中期，《自然》杂志才停止使用这种“Letter”(短篇研究论文实际上以“亲爱的先生”开头)。“Letter”一词用来指一篇简短的研究文章，这一用法从古代沿用至今。
Tip #25: Different kinds of research articles.
In the old days when journals were just getting started (I’m talking about the west, where this culture is, of course, much older …), researchers actually communicated their results to journals via ‘letters to the editor’. ‘Dear Sir …’ Many of Charles Darwin’s papers, for example, were in this form. Nature did not stop using this kind of ‘letter’ until the mid-1990s (short research papers that actually started with ‘Dear Sir’). Use of the word ‘Letter’ to refer to a short research article has just been retained from the old days.
