由Embracer旗下Aspyr Media带来的《指环王：北方战争》最新版本，今日在PlayStation、Xbox、Switch和PC平台突然上架。本作最早于2011年在PS3、Xbox 360和PC上发售，如今以“Legacy”版形式重新推出，定价20美元，8月25日前购买价为18美元。新版支持在线或本地分屏合作，并对单人游玩体验进行了“优化”，但官方尚未透露更多细节。由于发售前毫无预告，这波“突袭”让不少系列玩家感到意外。
