本周我们学习和暑期相关的词汇

1. peak /pi:k/

搭配：peak/ off-peak season 旺季/淡季

reach its peak 达到顶峰

e.g. Summer is the peak tourist season in many coastal cities.

e.g. The number of visitors reached its peak in July.

e.g. Flights and hotels are usually much cheaper in the off-peak season.

v. 达到顶点；达到最高值

e.g.Tourist numbers peak in August.

e.g. Sales usually peak before Christmas.

2. pack light

只带少量行李；轻装出行

e.g. I always pack light because I don't like dragging a heavy suitcase around.

e.g. I've learned to pack light over the years. Instead of stuffing my suitcase with clothes I probably won't wear, I only bring the essentials.

Opposite: overpack 带很多东西

an overpacker 喜欢带很多东西的人

e.g. I tend to overpack just in case the weather changes unexpectedly.

e.g. I used to be a chronic overpacker, but now I try to travel light.

3. package/'pækɪdʒ/

n.套餐

搭配：package tour 跟团旅行

all-inclusive travel package全包套餐

e.g.The travel agency offers attractive travel packages.

e.g. We chose an all-inclusive package, so meals and drinks were included.

e.g.My parents usually go on package tours because everything is arranged for them.

opposites: independent travel / DIY trip 自由行

e.g. We went on a DIY trip instead of joining a tour group.

e.g. I prefer independent travel because I can decide where to go and how long to stay.

4. tourist trap

宰游客的地方；名气大但体验一般的景点

e.g.I try to avoid tourist traps and look for places that locals actually recommend.

e.g. That restaurant turned out to be a tourist trap—the food was mediocre, but the prices were ridiculously high.

补充：mediocre adj.普通的

Opposites: hidden gem 宝藏地点

off the beaten track 避开热门路线

e.g. Instead of visiting famous landmarks, I prefer looking for hidden gems.

e.g.I prefer visiting places off the beaten track because they tend to be quieter and less commercialized.

补充：commercialized adj. 商业化的
