BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The passage of the Strait of Hormuz should be properly handled, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Monday.
Lin made the remarks at a regular media briefing in response to a question related to Iran's announcement of the Strait of Hormuz's closure in the early morning of July 12 (local time), citing unsafe situations caused by illegal foreign interference.
Lin said the Strait of Hormuz is a strait for international navigation. Resuming safe and free passage in the strait at an early date serves the interest of all sides.
"China stands ready to work with relevant countries and international community to maintain communication," the spokesperson said.
