共玉高速公路是青藏高原多年冻土区建设的首条高速公路，在高寒、高海拔的多年冻土区修建高速公路，相当于攀登公路工程的“珠穆朗玛峰”。施工中不但要给冻土降温，还要保护好野生动物迁徙通道，在一批批科研人员的坚守下，把不可能变为可能。
