清光绪《临桂县志》，实际上是补刊嘉庆版《临桂县志》，可以说是封建时代，临桂县唯一一版正式县志。临桂县，当时是包括今天桂林市区，第一次启动修志是在康熙年，但那是“小志”，直到嘉庆年才正式修，嘉庆七年出版，后来到光绪看又“补刊”一次。现在流传最常见的是光绪补刊版，嘉庆原版则少见。
