据公开资料显示，临沂河东医院是二级甲等综合性医院。该院前身为1958年成立的临沂县独树头区卫生院，后历经2次改名，1995年8月在卫生院基础上扩建升格，更名为临沂市河东区人民医院。该院于2004年和2014年曾两次改制，2004年改制为股份制医院，2014年彻底变成民办医院。2021年，经临沂市行政审批服务局批准更名为“临沂河东医院”。
