中国队上一次在世界杯年的热身赛里击败世界杯参赛球队，还要追溯到2010年，当时邓卓翔的惊鸿一射，让球队1-0击败对手。后来法国队在世界杯上小组垫底出局。
而随后的2014年、2018年、2022年，基本没有与世界杯参赛队热身的情况。
本场比赛，中国队2-0击败了库拉索，是自2010年后再次击败当届世界杯参赛球队。
