据央视新闻消息，中国地震台网自动测定：12月08日22时15分，在日本本州东岸近海附近（北纬40.96度，东经142.59度）发生7.8级左右地震。最终结果以正式速报为准。
日本气象厅当地时间8日23时17分发布海啸注意警报。当日23时15分左右，日本青森近海发生强震，东京等地亦有明显震感。
