My exchange in China began with nerves, but quickly turned into a journey of growth.Professors and classmates welcomed me with openness, turning projects and conversations into spaces of creativity and collaboration. Beyond class, students’ willingness to help and share made daily life warmer.

At first, adapting to a new country, language, and customs felt overwhelming.Yet I learned that growth requires small steps, courage to face the unknown, and trust in daily progress. Looking back, I feel proud of leaving my comfort zone and discovering new versions of myself.

Studying graphic design here has broadened my perspective in profound ways. The true value of this exchange lies not only in academic learning but also in the lasting life lessons I will carry with me wherever I go.

Hello,my name is Lou and I come from Brussels, Belgium. I am Chinese but I was adopted. I worked hard at my school to be able to study in China this semester.I am very happy to be here and I am touched by the kindness and energy of the Chinese. I hope to understand as much as possible the Chinese way of thinking and culture,which has always fascinated me. Hello everyone,I’m Elisa from Belgium, here as an exchange student at BGD. It’s been a month since I arrived in Beijing, and this time has been unforgettable.

From the start, I felt warmly welcomed by staff and students, which helped me adapt quickly. I’ve met many friendly and inspiring people—both local and international—and shared great moments on and off campus.

Life in Beijing has already taught me a lot. Each day I discover more about Chinese culture through food, traditions, language, and city life.

I look forward to making more friends, deepening my cultural understanding, and growing both academically and personally.

Being of Chinese origin but born and raised in Belgium, I had never really had the chance to live and experience in China.Since coming to Beijing and BGD, I’ve gained a deeper connection to my Chinese roots and daily life here.University life feels dynamic and enriching, with classes, clubs, and events offering constant opportunities to learn and grow.Beyond campus, Beijing’s blend of tradition and modernity inspires me every day.Studying urban design as an architecture student broadens my perspective and supports both personal and professional growth. This journey is only the beginning and will stay with me long after I return.
