位于内蒙古自治区阿拉善右旗的巴丹吉林沙漠，是我国第三大沙漠。1958年，我国第一个陆上导弹试验综合靶场，就选定在沙漠腹地。时年44岁的李福泽，被任命为基地第一副司令员。“困难重重，再困难也要给国家争口气，没有‘两弹’，国家强盛不了。”他在这里坚守16年，成了有名的“发射将军”。
