7月18日，华南农业大学总务部发布情况通报：7月17日晚，有网友反映，华南农业大学校园内有物业人员在持扫帚驱赶一流浪猫过程中致其死亡。学校高度关注此事，正抓紧调查核实。目前，该物业人员所在物管企业已对其作出停职处理。学校将根据调查结果进一步作出处理。
