闻境界有三重，一重曰看见——看山是山，神秀偈曰“身是菩提树，心如明镜台。时时勤拂拭，勿使惹尘埃”；二重曰：看穿——看山不是山，慧能反偈“菩提本无树，明镜亦非台。本来无一物，何处惹尘埃？”；三重曰：看破——看山仍是山，未见有续，乃云：
菩提已为树，
明镜亦有台。
有尘还拂拭，
看破行不破。
