徐根初，中将。上海人。1962年6月参加中国人民解放军。大学本科文化。
历任北京军区后勤部计划科长，后勤部参谋长。总后勤部副参谋长。1993年7月任后勤指挥学院院长，教授，博士生导师。1999年11月任军事科学院副院长。
1988年被授予大校军衔，1992年由大校晋升为少将军衔，1999年晋升为中将军衔。
