这是维基奇继去年奥运之后再胜世界前十，职业生涯首次闯入本站16强。接下来，她将和5号种子、新科澳网冠军凯斯隔网相对。
此前结束的比赛中，凯斯虽然浪费四个赛点丢掉第二盘，但最终还是以6-2、6-7(8)、6-4艰难击败28号种子梅尔滕斯，携一波14连胜晋级16强。
