2024年世界互联网大会乌镇峰会上，国际电信联盟前秘书长赵厚麟荣获“世界互联网大会杰出贡献奖”。他在峰会期间接受采访时表示，中国互联网在过去十年的发展为广大发展中国家民众带来了实实在在的福祉。他还强调峰会上正式发布的《全球数据跨境流动合作倡议》将对全球数字化建设产生重大影响。
