据悉，中南大学、湖南大学、湘潭大学、长沙理工大学、湖南农业大学等5所高校及李泽湘教授团队参与学院筹建工作。目前，5所高校的湘江卓越工程师学院均已成立运行，各校均制定了人才培养方案，开展了招生工作，并探索实施全新的项目制教学模式。
