Q：Do you think it is harder for a woman to go intopolitics
你认为女性从政更难吗？
A：I think it is harder. It is certainly harder for a woman with a young family because people would say “but you can't leave your home” . I was lucky. My home was in London, theconstituencyI represent is in Greater London, and so when my children were six I was able to think, “well, I'll try and go forParliament” , and I did and successfully. But I was always at home every evening.
我认为更难。对于一个有年幼孩子的女性来说肯定更难，因为人们会说“你不能离开家”。我比较幸运。我的家在伦敦，我所代表的选区也在大伦敦地区，因此，当我的孩子六岁的时候，我可以想，“好吧，我将尝试竞选议员”，我确实这样做了，并且成功了。但每个晚上我都会呆在家里。
Q：What are you doing for women? How are you helping them?
你在为女性做什么？你是如何帮助她们的？
A：Well, we believe that women help themselves and we are trying to get more and more opportunities for them. And we have legislation which makesdiscriminationagainst women for jobs illegal. But you know women are coming up and up and they are taking a much greater part in many of theprofessionsthat we used to. But we still have the same problem you do, not enough women coming into politics.
我们相信女性会自我帮助。我们正在努力为她们争取更多机会。我们也有法律规定禁止职场对女性的歧视。你知道的，女性正变得越来越强大，她们也开始在以前男性主导的许多职业领域扮演重要角色。不过，和你们一样，我们也面临着同样的问题，那就是进入政坛的女性仍然太少。
