“卡丘之域”起源于“卡-丘空间”，是超越人类感知范围的第四至第十的高纬度空间的统称，即我们心中的乌托邦在现世中并不存在，但他并不是纯粹的“无”，或许在某一个纬度、在未来的某一个时间里他就是现实，而意志是可以超越自身的感知局限，去发现、创造。

卓悦（Joy Yue Zhuo）善于将感知到的客观世界转化为艺术作品进行表达呈现，通过对内在灵感的深刻挖掘，将现实中的物件、生物实体解构重组，以个人独特的主观视角，打破对客观事物的常规认知。卓悦在此次展出的作品中不乏浪漫主义特征，是将情感、想象力以及个人体验置于艺术作品中，这种超乎理性的感知是对周遭事物，不顾现实，不合逻辑甚至荒诞的理解。她的创作更多是探索现实原型与自身感知之间的关系，在某种程度上通过绘画、摄影、装置等一系列手段，将观者引领至她所创造的“乌托邦”。而卓悦所构建的“乌托邦”不同于弗朗西斯·培根以科学主宰着一切为宗旨的新大西岛，也异于康帕内拉和托马斯·莫尔所主张的实行共产、均分的理想社会，卓悦的“乌托邦”更多是一个追寻童趣且充满幻想色彩的领域，是通向意志自由的旷野。这正如尼采曾提出一个观念，即“人的主观意识是世上万物的主宰，也是历史发展进程的根本动因，本能欲望具有无限能动性。”

本次展览通过卓悦的艺术品与空间相辅相成，共同演绎艺术家心中关于“乌托邦”的意象。同时，也希望能以此次展览为契机，能让更多观者与艺术作品产生更为深刻的情感共鸣，一同思考及感受意志的力量。

The concept of the ‘Utopian Fantasy’ is derived from the ‘Calabi-Yau Space’, which refers to the high latitude space beyond the range of human perception, specifically from the fourth to the tenth latitude. While this utopia of the mind does not exist in the present world, it is not considered to be pure ‘nothing’. It is possible that it may become a reality in a certain latitude at a certain time in the future, and human willpower can transcend the limits of its own perception to discover and create. However, it is important to consider that he cannot be simply dismissed as ‘nothing’. Depending on the context and circumstances, he may have the potential to become a reality. It is worth noting that the will has the ability to surpass its own limitations and discover new possibilities.

Additionally, Joy Yue Zhuo possesses a talent for transforming the objective world into art, which he skillfully employs for the purposes of expression and presentation. Through the deep excavation of inner inspiration, he deconstructs and reorganizes the objects and biological entities in reality, and breaks the conventional cognition of objective things with his unique subjective perspective. Joy Yue Zhuo's works in this exhibition are characterised by romanticism. This style incorporates emotion, imagination and personal experience into the artwork. However, it is important to note that this approach can lead to subjective evaluations. Joy Yue Zhuo's work may be perceived as an illogical and even absurd understanding of the surrounding things, disregarding reality. It is worth considering that this approach is more inclined towards a kind of expression of ‘I-orientation thinking’. Joy Yue Zhuo's creations explore the relationship between real archetypes and her own perception. Through paintings, photographs, installations, and other means, she invites viewers to experience the utopia she envision. This utopia differs from Francis Bacon's New Atlantis, where science dominates everything, and from the ideal society of communism and equalization advocated by Tommas Campanella and Thomas More. Joy Yue Zhuo's artwork ‘Utopia’ presents an imaginative realm that celebrates the freedom of will. As Nietzsche once suggested, subjective consciousness is the driving force behind historical development, and instinctive desires have unlimited mobility.

This exhibition showcases Joy Yue Zhuo's interpretation of ‘Utopia’ through her artwork. Simultaneously, this exhibition seeks to offer a chance for the audience to establish a profound emotional connection with the artworks and to recognise the strength of determination.

卓悦，一位扎根于上海的物体设计师。她毕业于芝加哥艺术学院，获得了美术学士学位，随后深造于罗德岛设计学院家具设计系，攻读硕士学位。

卓悦于2020年在罗德岛设计学院获得了家具设计硕士学位后回到上海，专注于艺术和设计领域的创作。她的作品曾在美国的纽约、芝加哥、普罗维登斯，意大利的威尼斯、科莫，印度孟买，新德里，中国的上海，深圳等多个艺术展览和设计博览会上展出。此外，Joy是多个艺术和设计竞赛的获奖者，包括在《Creative Quarterly》第70期获奖、当代艺术策展杂志颁发的"和平艺术奖"以及世界最大的设计奖意大利A’设计奖铜奖得主。

Joy Yue Zhuo is a Shanghai-based object designer. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she continued her education and enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program in the Furniture Design Department at the Rhode Island School of Design.

After obtaining her Master of Fine Arts degree in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2020, Joy Yue Zhuo returned to Shanghai, focusing on creative endeavors in the realms of art and design. Her works have been showcased in numerous art exhibitions and design expos across the United States, including New York, Chicago, Providence, as well as internationally in cities such as Venice and Como in Italy, Mumbai and New Delhi in India, and various locations in China including Shanghai and Shenzhen. In addition, Joy was the winner of a number of art and design contests, including the Winner award at Creative Quarterly Journal 70, the Face of Peace Art Prize award by Contemporary Art Curator Magazine, and Italy A’ Design Award, Bronze Award.

Artist Statement

卓悦（Joy Yue Zhuo）倾心构思家具与物品，以将她心中乌托邦的梦想传达给观众。她期望通过与她的家具和物品互动，使用户得以在想象中漫游这个奇妙的幻境。当人们与她的作品互动或凝视时，他们便融入了这个梦幻般的世界，成为卓悦创造的游戏《乌托邦幻想》中的非玩家角色（NPC）。

卓悦的作品具有生物特质，拟人化，始终呈现出富有互动性的特性。受到自然和日常生活的启发，她的作品表达了对水下世界和互联网的深深喜爱。她的设计渴望与观众互动和游戏。在卓悦的作品中漫步几秒钟，感受、测试、嬉戏，通过这些互动，她的家具将愉快地与您分享一切。同时，卓悦喜欢为她的作品注入惊喜，赋予它们幽默感，成为互动和交流的焦点。卓悦期望在人们与她的作品互动时，能够唤起一种愉悦之情，使他们感叹：“哦，多么愉快！”

Joy Yue Zhuo designs furniture and objects to express her utopian fantasy to the audience. She hopes users can imagine the fantasy through the interaction with her furniture and objects. While people are interacting or observing her works, they will become part of the fantasy. Joy Zhuo’s works are the NPCs (nonplayer characters) of a game she created herself called Utopian Fantasy.

Joy Yue Zhuo’s works are creature-istic, anthropomorphic, and always interactive. They are inspired by nature and everyday life. Joy’s works express her appreciation for the underwater world and the internet. Her designs beg for interaction and play. Wander around one of Joy’s pieces for a couple of seconds, test it, play with it, and through interaction, her furniture will be happy to share with you everything they know. Meanwhile, Joy loves adding surprises into her pieces, giving them a sense of humor, a point of interaction and exchange. Joy Yue Zhuo wants people to say, “ Oh, how joyful!” when interacting with her works.

关于威狮国际艺术中心

SEEWELL International Art Center

威狮国际艺术中心于 2016 年在福建福州成立，2017 年 11 月与凤凰卫视传媒集团旗下品牌“凤凰艺术”达成深度合作共识，联合署名成立凤凰·威狮国际艺术中心。既往展览涉足综合材料、城市公共艺术、以及科技艺术三大模块。作为福建首家专注于当代艺术推广的艺术中心，我们拥有近500平方可灵活使用的场馆空间，立志于艺术的无边界化及跨学科式，融合当代艺术精神，增促媒介之间的合作、共生、流布与协调，带来全新的艺术体验。我们也热衷并期待与社会各界开展更多的跨界合作，将艺术融入各类商业、人文活动，以此推动区域文化的共同发展。

SEEWELL International Art Center set up in Fuzhou of Fujian in 2016. It reached a consensus of deep collaboration with the media platform artifeng of Phonenix Satellite Television in November of 2017. A joint signature establishment was completed as PHOENIX SEEWELL International Art Center. The past exhibitions set foot in three modules of mixed medium,urban public art and technology and art. As the first art institution of Fujian focusing on generalizing contemporary art,we have nearly 500 square meters of flexible venue space, it determine to make art borderless and interdisciplinary; to fuse the spirit of contemporary art; to promote the cooperation, symbiosis, spread and coordination of medium and to bring the whole new art experience.We also look forward to carry out more cross-boundary activities with various sectors of the community to integrate art into commercial in order to promote the common development of regional culture.
