据共同社，1月24日上午9点35分左右在日本冲绳县石垣岛以西约7.2公里近海，驶往石垣港的巴拿马船籍货船“XINHAIZHOU2”触礁。日本海上保安厅的直升机救起了全部19名中国船员，无人受伤。
周边海域据称当时风速达到每秒约17米。据透露，上午9点05分左右，海保巡逻船发现有货船漂向浅滩。货船联络称“被风刮到，正在靠近礁石”，之后便触礁。
