五虎将去世后，蜀汉年轻优秀的将领稀少，姜维、王平、张嶷、廖化、霍弋、傅佥，等等，是蜀汉后期优秀的将领，特别是姜维，接过了诸葛亮北伐的担子，奈何国力有限，九伐中原无功而返，最后自杀死不瞑目，卫瓘对姜维说“蜀国之灭，非将军之罪，实是后主无道所致”，姜维才瞑目！
