今日，胡锡进在其新浪微博个人账号发布了卸任环球时报总编辑的消息：
老胡转过年就62岁了，到了退休的时候。我已办理退休手续，不再担任环球时报总编辑职务。今后我将以环球时报特约评论员身份，继续为环球时报事业发展贡献力量，继续为党的新闻舆论工作竭尽所能。
在此，衷心感谢大家一直以来对环球时报的支持、关注，感谢对我的鼓励，以及批评鞭策。老胡给大家作揖了。
