高州根子镇柏桥村有一个老荔枝园叫贡园，成园于隋唐年间，内古荔丛生，树龄超过500年有39棵，最老树龄1380年，仍然硕果累累，是粤西地区现存最古老的荔园。史载，唐朝高力士贡奉给杨贵妃品尝的荔枝，就摘于此园。
