网易家居报道：2016 MAISON&OBJET ASIA(简称：M&O ASIA)以崭新的姿态于3月8日-11日重现新加坡，作为2016 M&O ASIA四个引发灵感风暴的空间之一，来自TERRE工作室的作品 Framed人气爆棚。网易家居作为官方邀请媒体，有幸采访了TERRE的全方位设计师 Terence Chan.
2016 MAISON&OBJET ASIA (M&O ASIA for short) appeared with a brand-new look in Singapore from 8 to 11 March. As one of the spaces that inspireds, Framed by TERRE Studio has been extremely popular. As a media with official invitation, Netease Home had the chance to interview the designer Terence Chan with TERRE.
TERRE工作室是一个来自新加坡的设计工作室，于2006年由Terence Chan掌管。构成」（Framed）由Terence Chan亲自操刀，藉由空间蕴藏的模糊特性，巧妙运用光线、材质、构图、质地、重量，创造出多功能、适用于一切的设计作品。此次Framed的空间表现，Terence Chan选择了自己平时在设计中经常选用 的四个品牌HOUSE OF MADISON，DREAM,SUNLIGHTLUMINAIRE，TERRE的经典设计作品，来展现一个非传统的前卫空间，涵括现代奢华室内设计空间的私密氛围，融合了现代和古典的风格，像是Cassina,Knoll,Cappelini,Bulthaup,LouisPoulsen等。
Studio TERRE is a design studio from Singapore helmed by Terence Chan since 2006. The studio showcased a space installation, Framed, at the M&O Asia .Framed experiments with the blurring of spaces to create a versatile and adaptable design achieved through a skilful play of light, materials, proportions, textures and volume.Providing a counterpoint to conventional perception of spatial functionality, the use of frames provides the user with a variety of interaction formats without compromising on intimacy and the comfort of modern luxury living. Together with key collaborators Dream, House of Madison and Sunlight Luminare, TERRE has curated an eclectic composition of classic and contemporary pieces from brands such as Cassina, Knoll, Cappellini, Bulthaup and Louis Poulsen.

发挥元素创造性 追求经典设计
Use different elements , design classic works.
【网易家居】：Terence，您的设计理念是什么呢？
【Terence Chan】：在书本里有些单品，别人看了会觉得很难在自己家里使用。但是我看了会有一个构思，这个该如何运用。我很喜欢做经典的设计，也对经典的设计很有经验。我喜欢融入不同的元素，比如在做点缀的时候，会选用玉、青花瓷等元素。
【Netease】 ：Terence, what’s your design concept?
【Terence Chan】: You know, there are some furnitures that people find from design catalogues, but thye might find it difficult to use them at home. For me, I see these pieces and I have a concept on how to use them. I would use a mixture of classic design and contemporary pieces to compose, and I love doing this. Sometimes I would use antiquities, even white porcelain to decorate. I like working with different elements.
【网易家居】：您和很多知名品牌合作过，您对这些品牌也很熟悉，所以您才可以将其更好的运用到您的设计理念中。那您的经历是怎样的呢？
【Terence Chan】：我会经常留意设计的概念，对这方面很有研究。与这些品牌合作对我来说不止是一个工作，当我看到好设计时，我会构思下一个概念。对我来说，不管是小空间还是大空间，我都会想好如何去运用它。我也在寻找永久经典的设计作品，我在设计家的时候，每个家具都不允许在5年之内会被淘汰。
【Netease】:As we all know , you’ve collaborated with so many international furniture and interior brands and you are very familiar with them and often specify their in your design concepts. What’s your experience like?
【Terence Chan】:I always pay more attention to concept and devote my years to studying and exposing myself to new furniture design .So for me, knowing these brands and what they offer isn’t just a task on the job. When I discover good design , I’ll plan and try to use in in the next concept, regardless of small or big spaces. And I always try to go for a classic look that is timeless and comfortable. I don’t hope for the furniture that I specify outgrow the user or the space in five years’ time.
树立独特的结构方式 与设计融为一体

【网易家居】 ：您要研究客户，为他们专门定制，那您会有自己的风格吗？
【Terence Chan】 ：我的招牌是我的结构方式。不管客户有什么样的概念，我的结构方式都是很独特的。不管简约还是典雅，你都会看得出是我的结构风格。我也一直在寻找很棒的工匠，一直在考虑如何将设计与制作工艺融合在一起。
【Netease】:You’ve studied the needs of customers and offered customization for many years .How do you describe your style?
【Terence Chan】: My unique feature is my focus on form and structure; that is very special. You can recognize my design no matter the style, whether minimal or eclectic. And I always look for excellent craftsmanship in the objects I choose so as to combine good design with craftsmanship.
【网易家居】:您设计更多的是商业空间还是私宅？
【Terence Chan】：是私宅比较多。我可以把它做得很舒适又很典雅。所以，都是高端的家庭式的餐馆来找我设计。
【Netease】:Do you prefer designing commercial space or private house?
【Terence Chan】: Private houses. I try to design something classic, comfortable and elegant, whether it is a home or a find-dining establishment, the level of comfort can still be achieved. Certainly, there are also projects where I also approach with a simpler design.
【网易家居】 ：您在展会的这些设计作品都是为谁而设计的呢？
【Terence Chan】 ：展会上的设计不只是为了一个顾客，是要为大众着想。其实这个挑战更难，要满足大家不同的需求。
【Netease】:When you are designing this space ,what kind of customer do you have in mind?
【Terence Chan】:Not just one customer, I design this for many people. Actually that’s where the challenge is, wanting to satisfy everyone’s needs.
【网易家居】 ：对于不认识您的人，我们应该用怎样一种理念去传递您的风格呢？
【Terence Chan】 ：其实很难。我会很努力做设计，这是为了满足人们的生活需求。我不介意别人不知道设计师是谁，当然如果有人知道设计师是我就更好了，这就是我来M&O的原因。
【Netease】:How can we pinpoint and identify your style to the people who don’t know you?
【Terence Chan】:Actually, it’s really hard. I’ll do my best and produce design that suits my client and their brief. It doesn’t matter as much if they know whos the designer. I design for life,for comfort. Certainly, it’s better if they know the designer is Terence, and that’s one of the reason why I decided to showcase at M&O.

【网易家居】 ：您在选择合作公司的时候，您的原则是怎样的呢？
【Terence Chan】 ：我们通常都会是很好的朋友。而且我们在这个领域都已经认识了很多年，我认同我们做生意的方式。我们不只是卖产品，对这些品牌的了解都很深，这也就是为什么我们会有很专业的售后服务。
【Netease】:What’s the guiding principle when you choose the brands you work with?
【Terence Chan】:That’s easy. We usually start with good friends. We’ve known each other in this industry for many years. I identify with the way of doing business. Besides selling products, they also know their products very well. That’s how we can ensure a professional after-sale service.
【网易家居】 ：您认为新加坡的设计未来会有怎样的发展？
【Terence Chan】：新加坡的文化积累虽然不是很富裕，但是我们新加坡的设计师有很强的适应性，我们的设计将会更加的国际化。 而且我们做生意很可靠，有着自己的执着。在国际上，大家也都很认同新加坡商人。
【Netease】:What do you think of the future of Singapore Design?
【Terence Chan】:The current design culture in Singapore is not very rich. But Singapores designers are highly adaptable. With the influence of globalization , Singaporean design is widely received globally. And Singaporeans are known for our trustworthiness and we have our own insistence for quality and integrity. Such a reputation helps Singaporean businesses to be well-recevied internationally.

武勒登园 (Woollerton Park)：
客厅 Living room
这所别墅占地1500平方米，坐落于武勒登园内很好的地段。在设计的过程中遇到的最大的挑战在于，要对其空间进行合理的设计，在华丽高贵的基础上又不能缺少亲密感。
The house at Woollerton Park was a huge 1500㎡ bungalow nestled in a good class bungalow estate. The challenge hence stemmed from having to balance between grandeuer and intimacy through careful study and rationalisation of the scale and volume of the spaces.

简约而不简单：家具的选择在于其经典的价值。定制家具中运用干净的线条与纯粹的几何图案产生的设计美学将会是永恒的优雅。
Furniture selection was based on merits of classic design with well proportions and were complemented by customized pieces that are characterised by clean lines and pure geomotry to create a design aesthetic that is both timeless and elegant.

主色调黑与白搭配上油木本真的颜色，丰富的大地色系布料、表面的机理与纹样，这返璞归真的模式强调了该项目严密的架构思维。这样的空间设计为喜欢收藏艺术品、古董的业主提供了天然的画布。
A reductive palette of predominant black and white with the natural hue of oiled timber , rich earth fabric ,textures and surfaces defines the perimeters that underline the architectural rigor of the project. This provided a canvas to house the client’s eclectic collection of artworks , antiques and objects.

这间阁楼公寓的业主对于艺术、设计与建筑有着敏锐的鉴赏能力，也非常愿意参与到整个设计过程中来。这样亲密并且有建设性的工作关系，使房间的设计十分符合业主时尚前卫的生活方式。
The client for this loft apartment had a keen appreciation of art ,design and architecture and was very involved throughout the entire design process. The close and constructive working relationship resulted in a chic and contemporary home that fitted the lifestyle of the owner perfectly.
